I'm looking for a preschool for my 2 year old and visited KinderCare. The 1st thing that hit me was the odd smell than emanated the children's area and how run-down everything looked (a coat of paint could go a long way there). The next thing was the staff's appearance: poor grooming/presentation, tired-looking and appeared to be unable to 'keep up' with the kids. I didn't see anything that made KinderCare different or more 'challenging' than other preschools.
Let me just say that the only reason my children are not in this school anymore is for financial reasons. My son asked me if he could come back. I am very paranoid about where my children go when I am not with them. However with three kids needing childcare....it got really expensive. I love all the teachers and kids there. Maricruz was always amazing and i wish we could've stayed. Ms. Cole was also wonderful and became great friends with all 3 of my children! The school is very convenient for all of my needs and anyone who does send their kids their can feel good about their decision.

3. Classroom Safety/Cleanliness - We had a very extensive tour because I literally asked every question on every check list and anything else I could think of. Other places wash toys ONCE a week if that. They wash daily, have strict standards on crib bedding, practice safe sleep, and keep up the classroom very well. There's the usual snacks on the floor during snack time, but everything is always tidy when it should be. I will say the facility has been there a long time, and honestly needs a little TLC Renno. I did mention this and the assistant director laid out a general rehab plan which was nice to know things are being addressed.

It is normal for kids to have separation anxiety from their parents but that is not what is wrong here-it's something far, far worse. My son had terrible symptoms ever since the day he started; which he had never had before (he is the most easy going, happy, sociable baby). He started having nightmares and crying uncontrollably in his slee, waking up every 2 hours again, scared he would be alone, he started hitting his head on the floor and getting a bruise (he has never ever done anything like this!), he started putting non-food items in his mouth again, he started hitting (obviously a learned behavior from the day care, and come home with new scratches - I can't even explain how awful this place is! You have to trust your mom instincts and the signs from your child-the daycare tries to brainwash you saying "oh they just have to get used to it" blah blah um HELL NO!! When we would go pick him up it was almost as if he had been drugged or been given some sedative - his eyes were all glossed over and he didn't recognize us-it was the weirdest/scariest thing! He would scream and scream when we dropped him off, cry non-stop and latch to us begging us not to go-also clueing us in to how bad this place is.
